Costa Rica

Osa Peninsula

Costa Rica Road System - This map shows the primary road system throughout the country. Note that this map has been updated and shows the road running through the Osa Peninsula, ending in Carate (many maps you will see do not show this). The peninsular road turns off the Pan American Highway at Chacarita or Piedras Blancas and is paved to Rincon where it turns into gravel. The peninsular road is passable all year long...no problem
Peninsula map / Area locator - This map of the peninsula and gulf shows the names of the various areas, beaches, villages, etc. Use it for reference when reading the property listings. This map may look a little crowded with names, but keep in mind most of these areas are not very populated. Many years ago, the Costa Ricans gave a name to almost any beach, point, mountain pass, river, creek, etc. Many of which do not even appear on this map.
Caricature Map - A colorful map of the Osa Peninsula . . . mostly just for fun, but it does show the names of some areas. This map is original artwork by Ed Gaster, now living here in Dos Brazos. Reproduction for commercial use is prohibited without permission.

Topographical Maps - Topo maps are large maps and not easy to reduce and publish on the Internet. There are a series of topo maps published by the IGN / Instituto Geografica Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica. You can go to IGN in person to purchase them. They are located inside the department of MOPT / Ministry of Transportation (any taxi driver can take you there). They are also available at the various locations of Libreria Universal. These same topo maps along with other Costa Rica maps can be purchased online through Omni Resources located at www.omnimap.com/catalog/int/costaric.htm. If you want a particular topo section of our area and don't know the corresponding name, let us know and we will tell you.

If you have found any interesting maps on the web, we would love to hear about it!!
